Singapore Dental Health Foundation and Polident will hold a one-day oral health roadshow to promote oral health in the elderly and to remind them to fix their loose dentures.
Oral health and denture checks will be conducted by dentists on site, as well as a standard health check that includes BMI, blood pressure and diabetes checks.
Loose dentures can cause the elderly to avoid hard to chew foods containing essential nutrients and choosing instead to eat more soft foods like bread and noodles. This can expose them to the risk of malnutrition if their diet is not properly balanced.
Radio 100.3 DJ Anna will host the oral health roadshow. Event highlights include a smile contest to check for loose dentures, healthy cooking for the elderly demonstration by Chef Pang, entertainment by getai singer and actress Liu Ling Ling, and games for the elderly, with goodie bags and prizes to be won. Participants in the smile contest also stand a chance to win $300 (for the 5 most confident smiles) or a GSK hamper.
