Polar Bear Watch September 3, 2011

Polar Bear Watch is home to polar bear, Arctic fox, raven, and snowy owl. Tour participants will walk through the polar bear building and see the kitchen and food preparation area, the video surveillance stations, and the bear dens. Keepers will explain how the bears are cared for and managed, and the status of polar bears in the wild. The Maryland Zoo's involvement with international conservation programs, such as Polar Bears International will be explained. The bears may be inside the dens depending on the time of year and breeding status, which would preclude scheduling a tour.
