Sir Dorabji Tata Road, Nariman Point
Mumbai, Maharashtra

A large group of city poets gather to read poetry that attempts – directly and obliquely – to address that situation of still-simmering catastrophe in the city.

Why do we reach for poetry in times of trouble? Why do we turn to poetry when our questions seem unanswerable? Why do we turn to poetry when the city is burning outside our windows? Perhaps this evening will not answer any questions. But you will hear poets meditating on themes of fear, danger, crisis, terror – and the tenacity of the human spirit. In a range of registers from the ironic to the bleak, from the tender to the transgressive, a variety of poets will read from their work.
