Anderson, IN. - Put pen to paper and enter your imaginative and inspiring poetry in the Indiana Nature Photography Contest. Local poet, Stacy Smith, has organized this poetry contest with an added bonus - winning poems will be published in a chapbook titled Poetic Nature in the Hoosierland, and all royalties from the book go directly to Mounds State Park .

“This is an amazing project that Stacy has put together,” say Angie Manuel, park interpreter. “Stacy has put her love of poetry and her love of nature into a fundraising project for Mounds State Park .” Stacy Smith has also published chapbooks benefiting the Rescü Haus Raptor Rehab Center in Yorktown and other non-profit missions.

Poems must be about the natural world and written by Hoosiers. The deadline for entries is September 30, 2008. Poems must be no longer than 40 lines, and there is no limit to the number of entries submitted. There is however an entry fee of $1 per poem to defer the cost of publication.

Prizes include 1st place: $40, Mounds State Park T-shirt, and publication in chapbook; 2nd place: $25 and publication in chapbook; 3rd place: $10 and publication in chapbook; Honorable mentions: publication in chapbook. Authors of the top twenty poems will receive a complimentary copy of the chapbook.
