The Poetry and Poetics Research Group will be meeting on Thursday 15th October 2009 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm in room E21 (Faculty of Education) as part of a series of events this autumn.

At this session:

  • Cliff Yates - "'Flying' and the gap between intention and outcome in the act of writing"

  • Andrew Taylor - The Poetics of Absence - part two: a continuation and reflection upon the work in Troubles Swapped for Something Fresh (a Salt poetics anthology)

The series has been set up to celebrate the tenth anniversary of a group that has been meeting at Edge Hill University since October 1999 to share poetry and the difficult thinking that surrounds poetry that we call poetics. Past and present members include writers who are well known in the poetry world and others who are emerging talents.

We also have a number of other activities to celebrate: the publication of a book of poetics containing work by four of the group, the first issue of an academic journal about contemporary poetry, a special issue of a magazine on our work, and the use of Robert Sheppard's blogzine to post work by the group during the anniversary period.

There is free admission to this meeting, all welcome. For further information on the Poetry and Poetics Group, contact Robert Sheppard on 01695 584252 or email [email protected].
