You are cordially invited to the opening reception on Friday, March 26 from 6-8pm and to a lecture by the curator, Dr. Damian Skinner at Massachusetts College of Art and Design on Saturday, March 27 at 5pm in the Kennedy Building’s Lecture Hall (Room 406), 621 Huntington Ave, Boston, MA 02115.

The Pocket Guide to New Zealand Jewelry is an exhibition with catalogue introducing contemporary jewelry from New Zealand to American audiences. The endeavor is loosely based on the pocket guide that was issued by the US War & Navy Departments to troops stationed on the island nation during the Second World War. Like the US troops in 1942, you will discover a country and society that is both familiar and different through the work of 16 jewelers. The exhibition seeks to introduce individual practices as well as provide a framework that identifies key historical and cultural factors, which give New Zealand jewelry its distinctive character. Curated by Dr. Damian Skinner, a Gisborne, New Zealand based art historian.

Exhibiting artists: Fran Allison, Pauline Bern, Renee Bevan, Octavia Cook, Andrea Daly, Peter Deckers, Jane Dodd, Warwick Freeman, Jason Hall, Niki Hastings-McFall, Lynn Kelly, Peter McKay, Alan Preston, Lisa Walker, Anna Wallis and Areta Wilkinson.
