Plein-air painting became popular in the 19th century, first used by the Impressionist painters when paint was available in tube form and artists were able to take their canvases and easels outside. Painting their surrounding environment, artists were able to step out into the fresh air and be inspired by Mother Nature. Guest Juror Mr. Jean Stern, Executive Director of The Irvine Museum, will select 80 works of art submitted through a juried call for entries to Plein-air artists worldwide. This exhibition of contemporary Plein Air painting will be an amazing display of light and landscape that is sure to awaken the senses.
