Pleasure Palate "Chocolate Month" - Chocolate Tasting at K Chocolatier September 10, 2006

Time to tempt your palate with all the pleasurable flavors that Southern California has to offer. Join Pleasure Palate as we do some culinary exploring of restaurants (both high-end and holes in the walls), various food and beverage tastings, cooking classes, potlucks and so much more. From savory to sweet, from salty to sour, from spicy to tangy, from exotic to All-American, we'll taste it all, so come along and take your taste buds on the ride of their life.

You may not have known this, but September is "Chocolate Month", or at least, I'm declaring it Chocolate Month. For this special time of the year, we will be celebrating this sweet sensation through a few chocolate-inspired events. For today's event, it's all about sampling the many luxurious chocolates of Diane Kron of K Chocolatier.

Diane Kron and her husband Tom first started their chocolate business back in New York where they used to sell their decadent sweets to the likes of Jackie O, Andy Warhol and Katherine Hepburn. With the first blush of success soon came an expansion within a decade of 40 stores, including one in Beverly Hills.

In 1983, the Krons sold the chain so that they could raise a family and eventually moved to Los Angeles. When their children were finally grown and Tom retired, Diane decided to venture back into the chocolate business and opened up K Chocolatier in Beverly Hills. Believe me, chocolate lovers everywhere welcomed her back with open arms.

K Chocolates come in many varieties. There chocolate menu includes their Liquors Chocolates, which have real vodka, scotch and bourbon centers as well as the more kid-friendly, little crispy teddy bears with rice inside. Fruit lovers will savor her dark chocolate covered cranberries and orange peels. Of course, you can’t forget what brought her fame in the first place, which is her truffles - whipped bite-sized dark chocolate with whipped cream inside. This recipe is an original recipe coming from Tom Kron’s famous Hungarian family who were also chocolatiers and in fact, made this same recipe for Emperor Joseph.

Currently, Diane is also breaking ground with her K Sensual Chocolates for women, which consists of 15 different Chinese herbs that our supposed to heighten a woman’s sexual response. Who would have thought that chocolate could really be that stimulating?

For our chocolate tasting at K Chocolatier, which will actually take place at their Brentwood location, and all for just $25, not only will Tom Kron, be telling us more about K Chocolatier and their heavenly chocolates, we will also be treated to a sampling of the various lines of chocolates that K Chocolatier offers from their Liquors Chocolates to the world famous truffles to almost anything that takes your fancy, except for the K Sensual Chocolates. For that, you’re on your own.

An evening spent tasting and enjoying K Chocolates and spending it with other chocolate lovers is definitely the way to start a week, so please come and join us!

This event needs to Pre-Paid by September 7 to reserve your spot and your payment will cover the entire chocolate tasting.

* If you are paying via check, the cost will go down to $25 and you'll have to email me for an address to send the check to.

IMPORTANT: You cannot just show up for this event. I need to collect all the money and pay in one lump sum by September 8. I also need to turn in a final headcount that same day. This event is first come, first served. The first 20 who pay the fee will get to go.

All fees are non-refundable after September 7.
