Why do stars look so small while the Earth looks so big? In the planetarium, the audience studies how distance affects the apparent size of things. They speed through a day, sunrise to sunset, observing the sky and seeing how the Sun's position changes. At nightfall, students stargaze at the Moon, the Big Dipper and imaginary pictures in the stars.
