Pistolera is a New York City-based band led by Mexican-American singer/guitarist Sandra Lilia Velasquez. In the few short years since its debut in 2006, Pistolera has carved out a rightful place for itself in the congested NYC indie rock scene with its refreshing take on soul-stirring traditional Mexican rhythms laced with social commentary. Their highly melodic and danceable songs are sung in Spanish, and feature lyrics with a strong political content.
