Pirates- featuring Treasure! May 25, 2007

Discovery Science Center presents an exhibition on the science of pirates. Pirates featuring Treasure! will feature hands-on activities that include panning for gold, knot tying and hunting for treasure! Guests will take an adventure back in time to understand the life of a pirate. Learn about famous pirates such as Ann Bonne, Blackbeard and Hippolyte de Bouchard. Explore the principles sailing and how the stars are used in navigation. Hands-on activities allow guests the chance to try tools of treasure hunting and investigate treasures. Guests may operate a Remote Operated Vehicle, experiment with metal detectors, calculate their weight in gold and learn about the Global Positioning System and geocaching. This special exhibit features include actual artifacts from shipwrecks and other treasure sites.
