Fairy tales have a long cultural history of representing desirable social behavior to children, and 'The Adventures of Pinocchio' is a perfect example of the role fairy tales have played in the western civilizing process. Renowned fairy-tale scholar Jack Zipes will lead a conversation with composer Jonathan Dove and librettist Alasdair Middleton exploring the literary and musical worlds inhabited by the famous wooden boy, as well as the choices they made in creating their own adaptation of the classic story. They will be joined by cast members who will perform excerpts from this American premiere opera.
