"Youth sticks with some people… Zukerman seems the forever-young virtuoso: expressively resourceful, infectiously musical, technically impeccable, effortless. As usual, it was a joy to be in his musical company" (The Los Angeles Times)

Joining PCMS on February 25 at the Perelman Theater, Pinchas Zukerman brings to the stage his equally respected talents as a violinist, violist, conductor, pedagogue, and chamber musician; Zukerman is indeed a master of our time. A frequent chamber music performer, Pinchas Zukerman has appeared regularly with such luminaries of the music world as Daniel Barenboim, Vladmir Ashkenazy, Itzhak Perlman, the Orion and Tokyo String Quartets, the Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Trio, Ralph Kirshbaum, Yefim Bronfman, Lynn Harrell, Marc Neikrug and the late Jacqueline du Pré. Each summer, he performs at the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival, where he also participates in educational outreach activities within the community Zukerman began his studies at the Juilliard School with Ivan Galamian and, in 1967, was named first-prize winner of the 25th Leventritt Competition. He was presented with the King Solomon Award by the America-Israel Cultural Foundation and, in 1983, President Reagan awarded him the Medal of Arts for his leadership in the musical world; Zukerman has been recognized as a phenomenon for nearly four decades.

Joining Zukerman is pianist Marc Neikrug, a fourth-generation musician on his mother's side. Neikrug is a world-renowned composer whose works have been programmed by leading orchestras and opera houses, as well as an esteemed pianist who has performed duo recitals with Pinchas Zukerman for over 20 years.
Neikrug has recently expanded his artistic activities even further, serving as Artistic Director of the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival. Credited with rejuvenating the Festival, Neikrug has brought its focus back to small, high-caliber chamber groups since becoming Artistic Director in 1998. He has established an exceptional mentoring program which pairs young musicians with distinguished artists including Pinchas Zukerman, Leon Fleisher, Michael Tree, and Ralph Kirshbaum. Ranging from chamber music to symphonies and operas, Neikrug's own works have been commissioned by Lincoln Center, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Frankfurt Festival, Schleswig-Holstein Festival, Aldeburgh Festival, and London's South Bank Festival.
