Picoso is impossible to ignore. The improvised lyrics of vocalist/guitarist/tresero Eli Rosenblatt, the booming double-bass of Evan Flory-Barnes and the cutting, melodic playing of conguero Lalo Bello have the immediacy and spontaneity of street music. Though much of Picoso?s sound is based in Cuban and other Caribbean traditions, the soul of the group is firmly rooted in the streets of Seattle, where the group started playing. All of the songs are original compositions, and the combination of raw sound and boisterous energy created by Picoso makes it difficult to stand still. In addition to the core of tres/guitar, double-bass, conga/bongo and vocals, Picoso features Isaac Mills on Saxophone and flute, Sam Boshnack on Trumpet, Adam Weiss on Saxophone and Alfonso Gonzalez on Percussion. Come prepared to dance.
