Black-and-white photography is undergoing a renaissance. The choices for creating, converting, and outputting images are virtually limitless — and that's the problem.

In this workshop, students will learn how to use the color in images to make the "best" conversion to black-and-white — and how channels, layers, layer masks, and adjustment layers make Photoshop the best "darkroom" ever. Step-by-step demonstrations, coupled with practice time in the lab will train students to "think" in B&W. Students will come away from the course with a new understanding of: which inkjet printer/paper combinations rival (or exceed) traditional darkroom prints; why color management is important to printing black-and-white — and a virtual arsenal of Photoshop techniques for B&W.
