While the history of photography is not linear, many artists can be connected by aesthetic influence and technological advances. The permanent collection contains samples from each stage of modern photographic history, tracing the Pictorialist expressions of light and space, Modernist selections of form and texture, landscape formalism, photojournalistic revelations, social documentary and contemporary subjectivity.
