In August of 2007, NASA launched the Phoenix Mission, a lander headed to the Martian North Pole, with the specific task of searching out evidence of a liquid water history on the red planet.

In an effort to reach the public more directly, the Education and Public Outreach team for Phoenix deputized a group of 20 educators to speak to the public. These educators had the chance to spend one week working directly with Peter Smith (the Principal Investigator for the Phoenix mission) in Alaska to learn about the mission and to participate in hands-on activities and experiments designed to mimic the work the Lander will do on Mars. Kip Krushinsky and Beccy Siddons were chosen as 2 of those 20 educators, and given the task of educating people in New England on the Phoenix mission, its objectives, and the opportunities for public interaction with the mission.

Kip and Beccy will be coming to the Rochambeau branch of the Providence Public library to share images and information about the Phoenix Lander with young adults.
