The ability for the human mind to imagine effectively raises some surprising philosophical questions: Are we all living in imaginary illusions in order to make sense of an abstract existence? Have we invented everything to create civilisation in order to escape nature and therefore negate our natural animal instincts? Have we become prisoners of our imaginary illusions (including our limited use of language)? Are we all actors (or novelists) with imagined subtexts? This course, with the help of some of the greatest thinkers and artists in history, will investigate their theories and how art can unite our 'nature' with our 'anti-nature' characteristics.
