Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra presents "Music from the Sun King's iPod," its first ever family concert. Conducted by prolific Catalan musician, Alia Vox record label founder and early music scholar Jordi Savall and hosted by KQED radio personality Rachael Myrow, the hour-long educational program explores music of the French Baroque era from the reign of the Sun King - Louis XIV. While the monarch did not have the convenience of an iPod, he did have the luxury of an orchestra to play whatever he wanted whenever he commanded and the Philharmonia Baroque musicians will explore the music that may have been on his playlist.

'Music from the Sun King's iPod' is planned to be both fun and educational, as children listen to the beauty and grace of French Baroque music played on period instruments as old as the music itself or on historically accurate replicas.Philharmonia Baroque musicians will be available after the concerts for questions and instrument demonstrations.
