Philadanco is celebrated for its innovation, creativity, and preservation of predominantly African-American traditions in dance. Founded in 1970, Philadanco has a legacy of breaking barriers and building bridges across cultural divides, and has evolved into an internationally renowned institution; recognized for its artistic integrity, superbly trained dancers, and electrifying performances.

The evening’s program will include a new piece by North Philadelphia native Rennie Harris of Rennie Harris Puremovement (RHPM) entitled Wake Up. Highlighting the celebration of life through our everyday communal ties, Wake Up explores the Chicago style of house dance vocabulary set against a backdrop of Afro-jazz and funk music.

Join the Modlin Center for Modlin Arts After Words, a post-show question-and-answer session with members of the PHILADANCO.
