Petracovich of San Francisco, wielding the keys, bells and loops of her musical palette, will be playing the Jefferson State Pub on Sunday, October 14th as part of her Northwest Tour.
The music of Petracovich (aka Jessica Peters) is “both worldly and unworldly”. (Paste Magazine) Dubbed folktronica and dream-pop, the songs range from ragtime rock to americana to eletronic instrumental with trinkly piano, song-bird vocals, intriguing beats, banjo and harmonium.

Added to Jessica’s keys, live loops and old-record atmospheres is the live drumming of Max Diaz (Audio Outsend). With drive and heart, the melodious, lullaby tunes that have characterized Petracovich’s music slip into rhythms that sway like trains or factory chinks and pulses, organic and man-made all together.

Petracovich’s previous albums, Blue Cotton Skin and We Are Wyoming, have received the honors of play on 200 college radio stations as including KCRW and KEXP, as well as great reviews in Pitchfork, CMJ, Paste and Magnet. Songs have also been placed in a movie (the Fog – pretty bad horror for 13 year olds) and TV show (Over There – FX). She and her husband have crossed the country four times playing tours and sleeping in a van in Wal-Mart parking lots as tour-manager and performer. They’ve released both albums on their label, Redbuttons Records.

Petracovich is named after her great-grandfather, a Jewish immigrant from Russia who deeply respected music. The story goes that he would sit in the parlor, dressed in his best suit and cuff links with his hair slicked back, and demand silence in the house to listen to the NY Metropolitan Opera over the radio. He said we didn’t know what we had, being able to listen to music whenever we wanted.
