Petersfield Christmas Lights Switch-on November 19, 2010

Coinciding with BBC Children in Need to take advantage of this high profile event, organisers will be encouraging all in Petersfield to support the charity and get behind the spirit of the occasion by undertaking their own fundraising activity on the day.

The plan is simple, to close the Square from mid-afternoon to set up and be all cleared away for 9pm.

The aim is to bedeck the tree in the Square with 4,800 lights - the most it has ever had - and make it a real attraction to visitors and shoppers from near and far alike, not only on the night itself but in the run up to Christmas.
