Peter Simon: acclaimed photojournalist. From Bob Dylan to James Taylor and the protests of the 1960s to the 2011 Occupy Movement, nationally acclaimed photographer Peter Simon has been there, capturing these moments for posterity. Ronni Simon: jewelry designer and sculptor. The semi-precious stones and freshwater pearls that Ronni uses in her jewelry are her palette. Together the eclectic bodies of Peter and Ronni Simon’s work will be on display at Yes.Oui.Si. Boston from April 12- April 26.
Over the past 50 years, Peter Simon has documented everything from the spirit of the free love and the protest-filled 1960's to greatest names in rock 'n' roll, reggae and pop music. He’s had a front row seat for performances from some of the greatest influencers in Rock and Roll, all of which he’s captured on film. On display as part of the show will be photos of Bob Dylan, Jerry Garcia, Bob Marley, the Rolling Stones, Jefferson Airplane, James Taylor and many others.
In addition, he’s captured much of the cultural movements of the country, from the protests of the 1960s and 1970s, to the commune lifestyle and the 60’s youth culture. Most recently, he has covered the Occupy movement, showcasing the individuals and their actions that forced people to stand up and take notice. Photos from the Occupy protests in Boston, New York City and Richmond are central to the exhibit.
“Peter has been present for many of the cultural events that shape who we are today,” said Miguel de Braganza, founding partner/director of Yes.Oui.Si . “It’s an honor to showcase some of his greatest works at our gallery. We are equally excited to present the work of Ronni Simon. Ronni’s sculptures are really a whole new art form. Her sculptures are also jewelry, but rather than adorning a wrist, they adorn a wall”

Ronni Simon has had great success as a jewelry designer, selling thousands of her hand-made pieces to buyers from around the world. Her signature cuffs have been worn by Blake Lively on the hit TV show, Gossip Girl. Ronni has been profiled in Women’s Wear Daily and her bracelets and necklaces were worn by several of the models in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.
She has now taken her technique of intricately weaving and crocheting metal wire and beads into creating large sculptural installations. Her pieces are constantly evolving as she experiments with color and form and sees new ways to achieve that balance.
The exhibit will open with an artist’s reception on Thursday, April 12, 2012 from 6:00-9:00PM. Yes.Si.Oui is located at 19 Vancouver Street in Boston. The Gallery will be open Thursdays – Saturdays from 12:00 – 6:00 PM.
