Chase Young Gallery is pleased to announce a solo exhibition of new work by Montreal based artist Peter Hoffer.

For this newest series, Hoffer continues to paint the natural scenes that perpetually inspire him. Concentrating primarily on pastoral landscapes, but also adding to his oeuvre in this exhibition with a selection of powerful seascapes, Hoffer creates exquisite pieces in mixed media and resin.

In Cape, we see Hoffer's trademark loose and organic gestures depicting the energy of waves and the restraint of the waiting shoreline. A subdued haze hangs over the image and abstracted drips of paint and quick dashes of color lend a beautiful spontaneity to the piece.

Hoffer depicts lush and atmospheric scenes with a dramatic color pallet and surface. Images that are at first familiar and traditional reveal themselves as complex and abstracted -- expressing the unending beauty and surprise of nature.
