The Washington DCJCC's Hyman S. & Freda Bernstein Jewish Literary Festival presents Peter Beinart
"The Good Fight: Why Liberals—and Only Liberals—Can Win the War on Terror and Make America Great Again"

7:30 pm; $8, Discounted Member Price $6
At the Washington DCJCC, 1529 16th Street NW

What does it mean to be a “liberal” in today’s fraught world? Join in a conversation with New Republic editor-at-large Peter Beinart about how America can again lead the world—by example, rather than by command. From the dawn of the Cold War until the agony of Vietnam, he points out, liberalism meant an indivisible struggle for freedom, at home as well as abroad. Today, Beinart argues, a divided, embittered and weary country needs that kind of liberalism again. Beinart draws on the triumphant spirit of half a century ago to sketch a new vision, based on principles liberals too often forget: that America’s goodness cannot simply be asserted, it must be proven. The Good Fight is a call to revive the spirit that swept America—and to reinspire the world.
