?a Peruvian treasure ??
? Los Angeles Times
Already legends in their native Peru for more than 35 years, this vibrant song and dance ensemble achieved international fame after they were featured on David Byrne?s Luaka Bop compilation Afro-Peruvian Classics: The Soul of Black Peru. Deļ¬ning the infectious grooves, melodic guitar and passionate singing of Afro-Peruvian music, these 2004 Latin Grammy Award winners are credited with reviving Peru?s traditional music and igniting the Afro-Peruvian dance craze. CMJ described their 1991 U.S. debut, Sangre de un Don as ?acoustic but simmering, often melancholic but quick-moving ? music born out of passion.?
