About the Course
Today, work comes at us from many different angles. Projects, family, billable work, non-billable work, personal growth, friends, and so forth.

We spend a lot of time inventing, following, and even becoming certified in processes for teams and work projects. We spend even more time trying to optimise our teams. But teams are made up of people and, in the end, people end up being what makes or breaks the team. Shouldn't we spend some time finding ways to make work better for the people doing it?

Participants will learn what Personal Kanban is, how to apply it and other techniques to manage their own work, and by extension to teams. Each person will design their own Personal Kanban ready for use.

Join creator of Personal Kanban Jim Benson for an engaging session that will help you optimise the individuals as well as the team.

What You Will Learn:
1. Introduction to visualising work
2. Move towards balance - prioritise work so important isn’t crowded out by the “urgent”
3. Limit work in progress - understand impact and how to lessen
4. Juggle different types of work
5. How to involve other team members
6. Finding collaborative opportunities
7. Planning with Kanban
8. The psychology behind the board

Learning outcomes:

About the Trainer
This PK course is taught by Jim Benson creator of Personal Kanban and co-author of Personal Kanban the Book. Jim is a keynote speaker at most Agile and Lean conferences around the world (too many to mention here!)

Listen to Jim Benson on the IT Kanban podcast. Benjamin Mitchell, Karen Rodgers and Kevin Ryan are joined by Jim Benson who provides some fascinating insights into the application of Kanban and other lean agile management techniques. Jim describes his experiences working with teams and how Kanban and visualisation have helped organizations overcome the stress of knowledge work. Jim also discusses some common agile anti patterns such as isolated teams and lack of thought in planning. The conversation also covers how our cognitive bias affects agile planning and some of the pitfalls associated with story point estimation. http://itkanban.com/podcast/itk-podcast-2-interview-with-jim-benson/
