Perpetual Glory: Medieval Islamic Ceramics From the Harvey B Plotnick Collection April 4, 2007

The dramatic development of Islamic ceramics between the 9th and 15th centuries has been called nothing short of an industrial revolution. Glazed pottery -- white wares painted in cobalt blue, luxurious lusterware and prized splashware -- was produced in quantities and varieties larger than ever before and traded widely along the Silk Road. This exhibition will highlight approximately 100 examples from the Islamic west Asian lands of modern Iran, Iraq and western Central Asia. Drawn from the holdings of Harvey B. Plotnick, one of the finest private collections of its kind in the United States, 'Perpetual Glory' presents extraordinary examples of this important and long-treasured artistic tradition.
