WEN YAU

Title of piece: Civil Left/Right.7 – Change We Need! by wen yau

In her I♥HK T-shirt, Hong Kong artist wen yau arrived at the Big Apple with fascination and strangeness. Comparing her T-shirt with the rebus she has seen in the city, she has decided to make change(s) she needs here.
‘I think we’ve all had enough. Enough of the broken promises. Enough of the failed leadership. Enough of the can’t-do, won’t-do, won’t-even-try style of governance.’ – President Barack Hussein Obama
In the latest work of her ‘Civil Left/Right’ series, wen yau invites the audience to join a feast of sweet and salty savor as a homage or confession of her patriotism.
wen yau started the ‘Civil Left/Right’ series in 2007. The series explores her national identity and the kind of nationalism imposed on Hongkongers as Chinese after the transfer of sovereignty from the UK to China. She has put on the I♥HK T-shirt and presented this serial performance project in Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and various cities in mainland China.

JEFF HUCKLEBERRY AND VELA PHELAN

Title of piece: TIME EATERS
by Jeff Huckleberry and Vela Phelan

Jeff Huckleberry and Vela Phelan have been collaborating since 1998. They are connected by a sureal network of intuition, which guides them into the unknown . Jeff and Vela preselect the objects needed to activate the moment and all other is left to chance. Jeff's spirit animal is a chicken crossed with a bear and Vela's is a black deer.

“Their work offers up a raw, unpredictable and destabilizing encounter” Paul Couillard 2006
