World Arts West kicks off the 13th season of their arts education program People Like Me with an action-packed, global adventure full of spectacular dance and music entitled "Motion Commotion!" World-renowned mime and clown, James Donlon—former Head of Movement for Ringling Brothers, Barnum & Bailey Circus Clown College—appears as a wacky inventor on a quest for a free, clean and inexhaustible source of energy. As he travels in search of it, he meets welcoming and talented people in Brazil, India, Africa, America, and along the Romani trail, who share their dance, music and food with him. Powered up by cultural expression, creativity and community, he discovers that the greatest source of energy is in his own two dancing feet.

This interactive, hour-long performance introduces families to the rich
diversity of performing artists here in Northern California including ABADA Capoeira (Brazilian martial arts), Parna Basu (Indian kathak, a classical storytelling dance), Shuvani (Romani, gypsy dances), Umoja Clique (Ghanaian dance and hip hop) and Roots Revue (Appalachian clogging).

Additionally, there is a FREE pre-performance workshop with participating artists who will share some fun, easy-to-learn dance steps and songs. Special kid-friendly activity books packed with multidisciplinary, multicultural activities, as well as useful information on fuel, energy and nutrition will be distributed at the show.
