Who: Brian Feldman Projects (sleepwalk, Brian Walks, Barefoot in the Park)

What: Pedestrian, or Walking: Impossible Redux

When: Tue 1 Dec 2009 from 7am - 7pm

Where: Central Florida’s 12 Most Dangerous Intersections (Orlando-Kissimmee)

Metro Orlando’s just been named the most dangerous major U.S. city for walking!* “What are you going to do next?” “I’m going to avoid those intersections!”

Originally intended as a 79 hour project (over 12 days), Pedestrian, or Walking: Impossible was suspended at approximately 9:30am on Mon 23 Nov 2009 after only 15 hours, when Brian’s friends Rachael & David Rogers staged an unexpected intervention at the intersection of S Orange Blossom Trail & W Holden Ave in Orlando, which sketch artist Thomas Thorspecken had called for with his blog post following Day 1**.

The project is now being resumed, in a revised form, on Tue 1 Dec 2009.

Over 12 hours, Brian Feldman will travel to the 12 most dangerous intersections in Central Florida***, warning pedestrians of the dangers they face by walking across them. He will then attempt to cross each intersection at least once. 79 pedestrians were killed in vehicle crashes at all 12 intersections in 2007 and 2008.

Walking is Brian’s primary mode of transportation. However, due to the time constraints of this one day project, he will be driving to all 12 intersections.

This independent project is not sanctioned, endorsed or sponsored by Transportation for America or Orlando Sentinel.
