PCC Student Art Show and Sale June 5, 2010

On June 5, Artisan Renovations of Beaverton will turn its showroom into an art gallery showcasing work by the students of Portland Community College’s Rock Creek Campus. Between 15 and 20 student paintings, drawings, sculptures, and mixed media pieces (such as tapestries) from recycled materials will be shown and sold for prices ranging from $50 to $3,500. The show will run until June 26.

PCC Art Department Chair Mark Andres says that a space like Artisan could be ideal for art buyers in that "it allows people to view art in the context of a home.” As an example, he said, the venue gives potential buyers a realistic scale often absent in galleries.”

The show begins on Saturday, June 5 with a wine, cheese and artists’ reception from 12 to 4 pm. The reception is free and open to the public. The showroom is open 10am to 5pm Monday through Friday after that.
