Pavlo is a dynamic composer, guitarist, and singer, who has created a unique style best described as “Mediterranean music.” Mixing the sounds of Greek Bouzouki with Flamenco and Latin influences has proven a winning combination, which Pavlo says was the “natural progression” of combining his Classical and Flamenco training with his passion for Greek and European sounds.

"Pavlo: Mediterranean Nights" has been featured on KCET and other PBS stations. The passionate Mediterranean music of best–selling guitarist Pavlo comes to life in this new special. Filmed live at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center in Dearborn, Mich., this musical performance showcases Pavlo’s fiery, virtuosic guitar work, a vibrant mix of Greek, classical and Spanish styles. Pavlo has sold more than a half–million records, including two gold releases, has been nominated for a Canadian Juno Award, and has won the "World Artist of the Year" Award at the Canadian Independent Music Awards.

Pavlo has created a unique style best described as “Mediterranean music.” Mixing the sounds of Greek Bouzouki with Flamenco and Latin influences has proven a winning combination, which Pavlo says was the “natural progression” of combining his classical and Flamenco training with his passion for Greek and European sounds.

Greek-Canadian, Pavlo grew up influenced by his father’s work ethic and inspired by his dedication to persevere and to succeed. At 10 years of age, Pavlo began to play the guitar. At 12, he composed his first song, and soon, it became undeniable, the boy was gifted. While other parents would encourage a profession that might offer more security, Pavlo’s father would offer the words that would inspire Pavlo’s career: “Have the courage to do what you love, and the drive to do it well.”

Performing at the rate of 150 shows per year, Pavlo is on a mission doing what he loves, and doing it well.

Six acclaimed albums and one Juno award later (for “2004 World Artist of the Year”), Pavlo continues to grow in demand. With ever-increasing television and film credits, commissioned works and an invitation to perform for His Royal Highness Prince Charles, Pavlo is fast blazing a path toward international superstardom.

Accompanying Pavlo on stage will be four talented artists.

George Vasilakos’ primary instruments are the bouzouki and guitar. Vasilakos was born in Canada and is proud to have a Greek cultural heritage.

Born in Canada, Gino Mirizio comes from an Italian heritage. Although his primary instruments are percussion and piano, he plays an assortment of percussion instruments and he plays them all at the same time in an innovative set up.

Randy Rodrigues is featured on bass guitar. Rodrigues was born and raised in Canada with a Portuguese heritage. Rodrigues comes from a rock background, is a singer/songwriter and has played with Pavlo for many years.

A Canadian, with Greek heritage, Spyros Gazetos plays bouzouki, bass and keyboards. He began performing with Pavlo at age 16 and is proud to be the band’s longest serving member.

Pavlo’s program will be chosen from some familiar and favorite pieces including “Malaguena,” “Besame Mucho,” “Never On Sunday,” “Irresistible,” “Fantasia” and “Andalusia by Night.” This concert is sure to be a favorite of Community Concert subscribers.
