Philadelphia's Pattern is Movement is one band whose ascendancy into the indie-rock elite is imminent. Pattern is Movement melds experimental math rock with pop sensibilities not unlike Boston?s Mission of Burma did two decades ago. They take conventional melodies and song structures and turn them inside-out. The result is a batch of songs which are as infectious as they are intricate.

Special guest Picastro is the recipient of great accolades. ?Commanding influences as varied as gypsy field recordings, Greek rembetika, Russian folksongs, Faces, and Black Sabbath, Toronto's Picastro craft starkly discordant soundscapes where murmured vocals cascade alongside a rich panorama of dissonance and string-laden dynamics.? ? Polyvinyl Records

Chapel Hill, North Carolina?s The Physics of Meaning is the new project from Go*Machine leader Daniel Hart. ?As members of three of my favorite local outfits come together to form The Physics of Meaning, I'll go ahead and preemptively call this newfangled excursion a Triangle supergroup. [They] have something special on their hands with this mercurial, under-construction pop pursuit.? - Grayson Currin, The Independent Weekly
