Join Patricia Anawalt, founding director of the Center for the Study of Regional Dress at the Fowler Museum at UCLA, as she traces the ancient origins of high fashion from the Upper Paleolithic era to today's Western jeans and running shoes. 'The Worldwide History of Dress' (Thames & Hudson 2007) discusses the distinctive clothing of thirty-two global regions, ranging from early Egyptian linen shifts and Roman woolen togas to Mongolian shamanic robes and colorful Indian saris to African ceremonial attire and Middle Eastern burquas. Lecture followed by a book signing with the author.
