'Patchogue Jam,' a celebration of original music on Long Island stars five upcoming local recording artists: Miles to Dayton, The Kelly Project, Movement, Dynamic Stew and Hydroyum. This Long Island based band first began performing at local open mic nights in the fall of 2003. They use a mixture of folk, rock, and classical style to create a unique voice, not often heard in the Long Island music scene. Band members often switch instruments within a set, relying on their multiple talents to maintain a creative performance atmosphere. Patchogue's own Hydroyum is a red hot quintet of drums, bass, rhythm and lead guitars and trumpet. They perform a unique mixture of original material and covers, drawing influences from funk, rock, bebop, afro beat and R&B. Dynamic Stew plays a variety of intense, original music, ranging from dirty funk to psychedelic jams, mixed together and thrown into one large pot. Movement blends rock, blues, jazz, funk, reggae, bluegrass and techno into an original and innovative sound. The Kelly Project is an incredible live act that has opened for James Brown,The Moody Blues, and Yes.Their music is a fusion of different styles such as funk, jazz, R&B, rock, Latin and World Beat, drawing from a diverse mix of musical influences--from The Beatles, Stevie Wonder, and Sting to Femi Kuti, Maceo Parker and Blind Faith.
