Regardless of the outcome, the November 2008 election is bound to be an historic one. PATCA's October dinner meeting will feature a panel discussion between representatives from local Republican and Democratic parties, who will present their party's views on our country's current economic issues and discuss the impact of your vote.

Our panelists include the Chairs of both the Santa Clara County Democratic and Republican parties, who promise to deliver a lively and topical conversation. Each party will speak uninterrupted to communicate their viewpoint, and then there will be opportunities for questions and further dialogue, as time allows.

You'll hear about:

* How each party views the current economic crisis.
* Key differences between each party's approach.
* How the November election results may impact Silicon Valley.

About the Speakers:

Steve Preminger is the Chair of the Santa Clara County Democratic Party, and is the producer and host of "Democratic Television" on Channel 15. He involves citizens in the political process by encouraging voter registration and participation in campaigns and ballot measures. He is Director of Union Community Resources, the community service arm of the labor movement, and is a social worker for union members in Santa Clara County.

Steve Mullen is the Chairman of the Santa Clara County Republican Party. His focus is on recruiting and helping candidates run for local office, raising campaign funding, and registering voters. He became involved with local politics in 2003 when he met Keen Butcher, a candidate for Palo Alto School Board, at a SPARC (South Peninsula Area Republican Coalition) meeting. He was drawn to Butcher's enthusiasm, and he agreed with his message. Butcher ultimately was not elected to the school board, but was later voted Chairman of the Santa Clara County Republican Party in 2005.
