Following a sold out event in July, the Parks & People Foundation will host an additional Rain Barrel Workshop on Tuesday, August 7, where City residents will be given another opportunity to learn a new and creative method to promote water conservation in Baltimore. The Rain Barrel Workshop, held at the Parks & People office, will teach participants how to construct water efficient rain barrels while learning the most effective ways to save water.

With summer heating up and rainfall sparse, a rain barrel is a necessary tool to help conserve water. The barrel prevents water from running directly into the storm drain, instead collecting and storing as much rainwater as possible to be used later to water lawns and gardens. Using a rain barrel is a first step towards improving water quality and saving money.

At the workshop, Parks & People staff will provide instruction and assistance with the construction and installation of a rain barrel. Admission is $50 and includes the barrel and all necessary materials.
