Park - Play. Written originally in Hindi & Directed by Manav Kaul (translated by Deepa Gahlot). Synopsis: A Park. Just about anywhere. Three benches. And, three men. A squabble for the choicest of seats. Each mans claim is the most fundamental. And as always, theres never enough room for everyone. On the face of it Park is a comedy about three men in a park fighting for their individual space. The playful banter turns into a serious squabble and questions of space, territory and ownership become fraught with tension as individual quests display traces of larger and more serious conflicts. Marking territory is often considered an animal trait. And yet, man is the only animal that has created conflicts over territory! A Park bench or a country, the fight, and the quest remains the same! About the Writer and Director: Manav Kaul is one of the most important voices in Indian Theatre, writing in Hindi. Manav rose to national repute with his first play Shakkar ke paanch daane which has been performed across the country.
