Paradise in the South Pacific with Gamelan Dharma Swara June 27, 2012

Start the summer off right with an escape to the wondrous islands of Indonesia and Gamelan Dharma Swara! Led by master Balinese artists Nyoman Saptanyana and Ida Ayu Ari Candrawati, Gamelan Dharma Swara is one of the most respected gamelan ensembles outside Indonesia. The ensemble celebrates Balinese gamelan as a living tradition by honoring and strengthening understanding of its established forms, fostering experimentation and collaboration, and broadening appreciation of the Balinese performing arts. Gamelan Dharma Swara has performed at Lincoln Center, the Museum of Modern Art, Symphony Space, (Le) Poisson Rouge, Asia Society, and has been featured in the New York Times and NPR’s All Things Considered. In 2010, it gave a performance at the Bali Arts Festival that the Bali Post called “stunning!”

Caramoor’s Dancing at Dusk Series is a wonderful way to have your child introduced, up close, to music in a relaxed and joyful way. Bring a picnic, spread out a blanket, and enjoy great music together. Activities will be designed for toddlers as well as pre-teens.
