Contemporary dance-theatre company, PAPPA TARAHUMARA performs for FREE this
Wednesday night, December 5, at Painted Bride Art Center in Old City. The
performance begins at 7pm.

Fresh from a successful run at BAM in New York City, this widely acclaimed
Japanese company comes to Philadelphia for a rare performance of their
eccentric, comic-tragedy, THREE SISTERS.

PAPPA TARAHUMARA adapts Anton Chekov's literary classic to the context of
the Japanese countryside in the 1960s. Its seemingly sweet portrayal of
three bored sisters grappling with womanhood spirals into a sensual and
charged meditation on female identity, coming-of age and the Japanese
obsession with youth culture.

This presentation of Pappa Tarahumara is a production of the Painted Bride
Art Center and has been made possible with professional development funds
from Dance Advance, an artistic initiative of the Philadelphia Center for
Arts and Heritage, funded by the Pew Charitable Trusts; and the Philadelphia
Live Arts Festival.
