L.A. debut! Gastón Solnicki’s trenchant portrait of four generations of the Solnicki clan exposes the ghosts haunting them every day. Developed from hundreds of hours of contemporary footage and the family’s archival 8mm films, he paints a stunning portrait of family and illustrates the difficulties of coming to terms with the Holocaust, both for survivors and their descendants. Papirosen is not only a document of Jewish middle-class life in post–World War II Argentina, but a celebration of the meaning of family.
