ATLANTA’S BATATA DOCE JOIN FORCES WITH PHILLY SNOW CAPS-
February 23rd 2009. Traveling up from Georgia the multi-cultural groove band Batata Doce smash into Philadelphia’s own Tritone to take the stage with elegant pop-folk act Snow Caps. Batata Doce (which is Portuguese for "sweet potato") are 6 veterans the Atlanta music scene who have played their tropicalia-influenced psychedelic garage pop sound in Philadelphia music halls before: the North Star (with West Philadelphia Orchestra and Rupa and the April Fishes) and a previous go on the Tritone stage last year for an east coast tour. They have recently been featured on the Comcast “On-Demand Concert Series” and have been featured in magazines, Pine and Performer. Once the eclectic rockers exit the stage, the Deli Magazine 2008 “best new artist” nominee Snow Caps will step up. Doug Wallen (Philadelphia Weekly) mused of their tunes “a crooked strain of indie pop… twisting soft-sung folk tableaus into hypnotic tangents.” Snow Caps live set- up ranges from solo classical guitar to violin, harp, bass, and dual guitars, but regardless of arrangement, the sound waves are guaranteed to delight and entrance. The dynamic of these two bands colliding together on the Tritone stage will be a treat for all those looking for a diverse way to dance, drink, and chill on the last Monday evening of February.
