Paintings by Jeetin Rangher and Venkatesh Desai. Jeetin Rangher - "We believe that we are the supreme beings on the earth. We never realize that all other beings on earth have as much right to live and enjoy their life as we do. This is due to arrogance of possessing higher intelligence. Using this extraordinary power, we colonize vast tracts of land on the earth and build cities, towns etc leaving no space to live for other beings". We cut trees because they obstruct the view of our house, cause inconvenience to our movement, become hurdles for road widening or for taking up developmental projects. We do not understand that trees have a life of their own and also offer shelter to so many creatures. By cutting the trees we kill the trees and displace all those creatures. We destroyed the habitats of several creatures and driven them away which ultimately caused their extinction. It is no cause of concern for us as long as we live comfortably. Our life style is more important than anything else. These beings have neither the voice nor the intelligence to fight back. So we arrogantly trample their right for cohabitation on the earth. We do not even spare the tiny sparrow. We destroyed its habitat and successfully driven away this small creature from our cities. What harm has it caused to us? Can we not live responsibly?. Venkatesh Desai - "I put forward my paintings using abstraction. I capture the play of positive/negative forms, objects, landscapes, light and shade, textures, colours, cubic, pattern, lines, space creating interest, etc. Admidst the role of the unconscious mind. My passion for forms in nature has influenced me to use them and develop on them. This not only creates interest within me to paint. But i also try to allow the viewer to imagine their own space to wander upon".
