Painted Door Auction presented by The Art Institute of Portland and Portland City Art September 3, 2009

Doors created by 50+ artists during the month of August 2009, will be auctioned during a silent and live auction event on the First Thursday in September. The event will happen at The Art Institute of Portland, 1122 NW Davis Street, with the silent auction staring at 6 pm. The event is free and open to the public.

The painting of the doors for this event kicked off during a live paint event with 30 artists on the First Thursday in August, held on Davis Street in front of the design college.

The proceeds from the auction will benefit the artists, the Creative Arts Scholarship at The Art Institute of Portland and Portland City Art.

The show was curated by Portland City Art and included the work from some Art Institute students.

This project grew out of the Portland Mural Show, which concluded in 2008 with a live door painting event. Subsequently the doors were auctioned off at the Olympic Mills Commerce Center, and 10% of the proceeds went to P:ear.
