Laura Keller has been with the American Diabetes Association for over 9 years. Starting in the Local Seattle Market as the Youth Program Director, for 5 years. In that time she worked on camps and youth programs for kids and families with diabetes, fundraising, diabetes Expo, and the Teen Advocates Program training teens to advocate on behalf of all people affected by diabetes in their legislature. As advocacy director for 11 states Laura works to increase funding for diabetes research and programs, improve and protect insurance coverage and health care, and to end discrimination against people with diabetes. Works with state legislators, volunteers, community partners, and coalitions to support legislation that seeks to promote and improve care, prevention, treatment, and education of obesity and diabetes. Advocate and increase where appropriate, funding levels for diabetes research, diabetes education and awareness in communities, and other health prevention initiatives.
