Pacific Perspectives is a key element of the new SFAI Exhibitions and Public Programs Department. This program will examine the dynamic scene of creation across the Pacific Rim ranging from the Americas to Asia, and will bring new attention to San Francisco and its unique geographic, historic, and cultural position.

For the first Pacific Perspectives event at SFAI on September 25 from 6:00 to 7:30pm, two young artists from China—Wang Wei and Liu Ding—will speak about their work and the current situation in Beijing’s exciting art scene. This lecture is held in collaboration with the Luggage Store Gallery, which is currently presenting “The Amber Room,” an exhibition featuring artists Liu Ding, Won Ju Lim, Shirley Tse, and Wang Wei, and guest curated by David Spalding and Pauline J. Yao.
