Bay Choral Guild's March 2011 concert is an all-West-Coast-composer extravaganza! BCG explores exciting trends in 21st century choral composition with a performance of exquisite music by living composers from Southern California to the Pacific Northwest. Set to wide-ranging texts from St. Francis of Assisi and Michelangelo to Pablo Neruda and Ken Rexroth, the works present a unique view of how each composer uses music to give an audible dimension to the text and poetry.

The program showcases three world premiers by Bay Area composers L Peter Deutsch, Trevor Doherty and Frank Ferko, works all commissioned by BCG. The full list of composers includes Eric Whitacre, Morten Lauridsen, and Frank Ticheli (Los Angeles); Kevin Memley (Fresno); David Conte, Sanford Dole, Kurt Erickson and Kirke Mechem (Bay Area); Robert Kyr (Eugene) and Eric Banks (Seattle).
