Pacific Chamber Symphony 2010-2011 Season Preview and Tickets September 24, 2010

The Pacific Chamber Symphony season opens on Friday, September 24, 2010, with a Beethoven and Schubert program of virtuosity and lyricism, featuring veteran pianist Joseph Kalichstein. From the dazzling filigree of the opening movement of Beethoven's 4th Piano Concerto to the frenetic finale of Schubert's First Symphony this program will charm and delight.

On Friday, December 3, 2010, and for the third year in a row, the Pacific Chamber Symphony will be presenting an insightful interpretation of Handel's Messiah. This performance will be a true masterpiece, with an enlarged chorus and outstanding soloists which include Marnie Brekenridge (soprano), Tom Glenn (tenor), Erin Neff (alto), and Torfel Borsting (bass).

Master flutist Sheridon Stokes rejoins PCS for a program of works for flute and orchestra: Vivaldi's Concerto for Two Flutes, the Adagietto from Mahler's Symphony #5, and the world premier of a work by Los Angeles composer Christopher Caliendo. Mr. Stokes versatility and intelligence never fails to delight. He will be joined by the Pacific Chamber Symphony's own principal flutist Janet Ketchum for the Vivaldi concerto. The program will conclude with Tchaikovsky's gorgeous Serenade for Strings.

For the final program of the year on Friday, May 20, 2011, the Pacific Chamber Symphony presents its interpretation of Beethoven's great Violin Concerto, featuring renowned violinist Jaime Laredo. The program, and our season, concludes with the gentle lyricism of the Saint-Saens Second Symphony.
