[:] p l u g [:] san francisco's first annual global headphone festival and the u.s. west coast's debut transmission as part of the 8th annual le placard international headphone festival : non-stop streaming headphone concerts from cities around the world to headphone people around the world. this event can only be heard through headphones, so B.Y.O. [about le placard]
le placard is a nomadic "festival within a festival" that functions under a mode of open program, open for headphone rooms to create performance spaces where performers are welcomed to perform, using the inscription site to self organize the global program. there is no format to the festival, it is constantly mutating, often described as "an experiment in erasing the line between public and private audio enjoyment." this year, the stream occurs for 97 days non-stop, and includes transmissions from berlin, bratislava, bologna, montreal, sweden, bordeaux, toulouse, paris, finland, tokyo, leipzig, london, amsterdam, brussels, rotterdam, zurich, and of course, san francisco.
